Christmas Card Workshop!

The weather report today is telling us were going to cool way down and maybe snow! I personally enjoy the snow, I feel like its part of good old Indiana weather so, why complain? Below zero weather is a bit of challenge but, there again, we have a wood stove, a roof over our heads, plenty to eat and if the wind isn't blowing, we stay warm.

Winter weather tends to make me go into hibernation mode. Especially after the holidays are done and the decorations are all put away. I never feel cabin fever, I just hibernate in my craft room and make pretty things. LOL!

Meanwhile, I am working on a Christmas Cards Workshop! Here is a start~

Card #1.

This one is probably my favorite of the 3 on this blog. I loved how this technique is done. Here is the blog where I got the idea. Tamara's Paper Trail Thankyou so much Tamara for sharing this beautiful idea and your own gorgeous project.

Of course, all products used are Close To My Heart.

Colors:

Black Staz On and Black (regular stamp pad)
Whisper
Slate
Background Paper- Yuletide Paper Pack
D1610~Christmas Post Stamp Set

I started with the Whisper stamp pad and sponged the color inside the stencil with circular motions. I added the Slate on the outside edges adding Whisper to try and blend the colors. Adding the White Daisy into the center really helped smooth the colors. The idea is to give your sky depth and light.
I put a tiny puddle of white acrylic paint out on my craft sheet and tapped out a tiny bit then tapped on the gray (keep your stencil on) to make it look like snow falling. The key to this is to work off excess paint before applying to your project and less is more.

Stamp the scenery stamp design on first with the Stayz On. Stamp again with the White Daisy. Remember, this is very wet and takes awhile to dry. You can use your heat gun to dry it faster. I took a tiny paintbrush and painted in the roof. Not solid. I want it to look like snow.

Sentiment is stamped in the regular Black stamp pad. The size is:5 1/2" x 4 1/4"

Card #2.
This card is inspired by this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. Click on the link to see what the other ladies did with this delightful sketch. Then, try it out yourself and share your card with us on my Facebook Page.

 Here is the sketch!

Here is my card!

For this one, I used the Hostess Rewards Stamp Set-C1587 Sing Glory in the Close To My Heart Annual Inspirations on page 7.

Colors:

Desert Sand
New England Ivy
Cashmere
Saddle
Barn Red
Ruby
Honey
Creme Brulee

The background technique is a Tim Holtz technique  using stamp pads, craft mat and water sprayed on the inks. You will need your heat gun to dry between layers of inks. All the credit goes to him. Sorry, I couldn't find this one in his blog I have all 3 of his books. I highly recommend them.

Here is another way of using this method also on our very own founder Jeanette Lynton's blog.

I used the Saddle to stamp the angel on the mottled background. I stamped the angel again with the versa mark stamp set and then embossed it with clear embossing powder to make it shine! The Ruby sentiment is stamped with Barn Red using D1544-Distressed Backgrounds stamp set. The design is cut with the Art Phylosophy Cricut Cartridge.

Card #3-

This card was another Sketch Challenge from the Case this Sketch blogsite.

Mine didn't quite end up the same because of the subject.

This stamp set is retired, but, I just realized I actually have the one that took its place.

D1614- Reason For The Season Stamp Set

Colors:

Black
Whisper
Slate
Ruby
Barn Red
Scrap Paper from the Snowhaven

I completely stamped the top piece all at once before cutting the side off. It's probably a no-brainer, but, just wanted to put that in. Using the Whisper for the city on the horizon line makes gives a very satisfying depth to the scene. Slate was used to stamp the Wise Men then the black for the rest.

Hope you enjoy making these. I will be offering these and other Christmas Cards in a Card Buffet Workshop on Nov. 29 where you will make as many cards as you can in 3 hours for $15!

Interested? Contact me here, on Facebook (I will be setting up an event) or email me and let me know if you want to join me and I will send you a registration form to fill out. Prepay will be neccessary with no refunds after Nov. 24.
